Russian icon "Pochaevskaja" wood double embossing Size: 30x40 cm Condition: New. The icon is inaugurated by the head of the temple Reverend Serafima Sarowski in the town of Sofrino.

Respected as a miracle, the beautiful Pochayevsky icon is kept in the Uspensky Pochayevsky monastery in the west of Ukraine in the Pochayev settlement of the Ternopol region. According to legend, it was given to the monks by the nobleman Anna Goysky, who received it as a gift from the Metropolitan of the Novice, who was passing by Pochaeva, in the future константинопольского the Patriarch in 1559.

After a certain time the icon from the monastery was seized by the heir of Anna Gojski Lutheran Andrei Firlem. The wise man was with him for about 20 years and in 1644 returned to the monastery. The legend connects the repatriation with the story that Andrey's wife became possessed and, on the advice of Job Pochayevsky, returned the icon to the monastery in order to receive healing.

In 1721, the monastery, together with the icon, became the property of Uniat. In 1773 the faces of the Infant Christ and the Mother of God were two crowns of pure gold sent by Fathers Klimentom XIV. In 1831 the monastery and the icon were returned to Orthodoxy, the monastery received the status of a monastery.

The icon is currently in the Assumption Cathedral of the Pochayevsky Monastery and prayers are read before it every day.
