Russian icon "Ksenija Peterburgskaja" wood double embossing Size: 30x40 cm Condition: New. The icon is inaugurated by the head of the temple Reverend Serafima Sarowski in the town of Sofrino.

Ksenia Peterburgsky (in the world Ksenia Grigoryevna Petrov) — Russian Orthodox saint, the protector of Saint Petersburg.
She was a wife of Hofsingandrei Petrov, who had the rank of colonel.
After the man's sudden death, 26-year-old Ksenija chose the difficult path of foolish behavior. She sacrificed the house, dressed herself in the man's clothes and told everyone that he was alive, and Ksenija died.

Ksenija Peterburgski walked, praying for the people. Most of the time she strolled around the city all day long. She did not accept alms, and only took from good people the kopeck with the representation of the rider and immediately gave back to such poor people as herself. She was offered the clothes, but she didn't want to part with the rags. Where Ksenia would not come, where she would not appear, good events happened in that place, the miraculous healings, her prophecy always came true.

Ksenia Blissful Petersburger carried out the heroic act of voluntary madness for 45 years, but the end of her earthly wanderings has come. About 1803, on the 71st year she fell asleep from the dream of the pre-Vednitsa. Her body was buried at Smolensk cemetery. And it is much foreshadowing of God's grace- has begun to happen at her coffin.

On her grave, in Smolensk cemetery, in 1902 according to the project of architect A.A.Vseslavina the stone chapel was built, which still serves as one of the shrines of St. Petersburg, attracting numerous pilgrims.

After many years of popular veneration, Ksenija Glückselig Petersburger was canonized in 1988.
