The ecclesiastical candle - the sacred possession of Christianity. She is the symbol of our spiritual alliance with the Holy Mother Church. The candles that believers buy to place on the candlesticks next to the icons have somewhat spiritual meanings: since the candle is purchased, it is the sign of man's voluntary sacrifice to God and His Temple, the expression of man's willingness to obedience to the God (the softness of the wax), his striving towards îáîæåíèþ, the transformation in the new being (the burning of the candle). The candle is also the testimony of faith, of man's participation in the Divine Light. The candle expresses the warmth and ïëàìåíü of man's love for God, the Mother of God, the angel or the saint, in whose face the believer places the candle.
